Volclay
Bentonite is world renowned for its effectiveness as a binder
in green sand moulding. Foundry
grade bentonite and bentonite blends are utilised by the most
fastidious automotive companies.
Bentonites have many useful properties and prove effective as either
binders, pasticisers, lubricants, coagulants, absorbents, gellants or
viscosifiers. These characteristics are exploited in many diverse applications
in both industrial and consumer products.
Volclay International Pty Ltd have long supplied the traditional major markets
such as civil engineering where, for
example, we have a range of products for diaphragm walls, piling etc.
Similarly our products are well established in drilling
applications as suspension agents for water based mud systems.
Through its association with sister company CETCO,
Volclay International Pty Ltd provides bentonite based products for use in
construction waterproofing. CETCO's
range of Geosynthetic Clay Liners caters for larger projects such as
landfill, secondary containment and lagoons.
Volclay International Pty Ltd bentonites are used in environmental applications,
the most common applications are as ground sealants and as a major component
in wastewater treatment formulations.
Other specialised but not insignificant uses of our bentonites include
ceramics, paper production, paints, refractories, emulsions and wine
clarification. High brightness and high purity grades are also
supplied, particularly for pharmaceutical and domestic cleaning products.
All grades of bentonite are offered as either granular or powdered
products covering a range of carefully controlled particle size distributions.
